Oil Companies: A Key Part of Global Economy

The life of people on earth has changed since the discovery of crude oil found at the depth of the planet’s crust. It has become the major fuel source. Hence it is quite obvious that oil companies of the world play a key role in shaping the global economy. The population of the world is multiplying day by day and demand for oil is increasing rapidly. It is used in all major industries and directly or indirectly our lives depend on it.

It is not surprising that the oil companies are among the biggest companies of the world. Catering to the energy demand of the world is not an easy task. The oil companies need huge man power to do all the works. Therefore they are probably the largest employers of the world.

The tasks of the oil companies can be divided into the following:

Oil Production: This is the major task the oil companies perform. They extract the crude oil from reserves.

Oil Refinement: This is the next step to be followed. Once the oil is extracted it is refined in processing plants.

Oil Distribution: Finally the oil companies distribute the refined oil to different sectors such as automobile, residential, agriculture and many more. Distribution of oil is followed by the commercialization of various oil products.

All the oil companies in the world are striving hard to meet the global fuel demand. South Carolina oil companies are no different in this respect. Since the crude oil resources are drying out it has become quite difficult to meet the high demand. As of now no alternative to fuel has been discovered. Hence this problem is going to sustain for at least another thirty years if the use of oil has not been controlled.
