Best Ways to Solve Financial Shortfalls

>> Monday, February 28, 2011

When the day inevitably arrives that we are no longer reliant upon our parents to run our finances, there is a certain amount of pride that comes with successfully managing our money without help. However, even the smartest individuals can experience financial shortfalls that sneak up on them and catch them in a tough situation. No matter what the challenge, facing and overcoming any sudden financial hurdle is critical to any individual's current and future financial health.

There are many options individuals have when it comes to getting money in their pocket fast. Each of these options come with different positives and negatives, and these are factors that should be carefully considered before choosing the best path to overcome a financial shortfall.

The following are examples of steps that can be taken to overcome financial shortfalls and deal with unexpected challenges:

- Personal/Small Loan from bank
- Personal Loan from a friend or family member

Individuals with sparkling financial credit may find a personal or small loan from a bank to be the best means of solving their financial shortfall. These loans can help individuals by providing them with a loan ranging from $1,000 to upwards of $20,000. In addition, a loan from a bank will come with a fixed repayment schedule and lower interest rates than other alternatives. The biggest drawback however is that an individual will need good credit to obtain a loan with a low interest rate and small monthly payments.

Those who need less cash and have poor credit would be best served considering a cash advance. Cash advances can put money into an individual's account within one business day, or even within moments, and do not require a credit check or any other financial paperwork. Cash advances are strictly regulated in many states in the U.S. and are often not available in amounts exceeding $1,000. Even worse, unpaid cash advances come with astronomical interest rates that can quickly land an individual deeper in debt than they were when they sought out the cash advance.

The last option for most individuals is a difficult one to consider. Those who don't want to, or can't, deal with a bank or other financial institution in search of a loan could consider asking a friend or family member for a loan to cover their financial shortfall. This has the advantage have flexible repayment schedules, as worked out between the two parties, and no interest rates involved. However, the possible damage to the relationship makes this option difficult for most to consider. Additionally, the lack of legally binding paperwork between the sides can make it easy for some to run out on debts.

Confronting and dealing with a financial shortfall can be difficult, but if managed successfully can leave an individual no worse for the wear. Even better, they will have confidence that if future shortfalls should arise they will be able to meet and conquer these problems as well.

Asking the Right Questions before Choosing a Petroleum Company

Whether your need is just 100 gallons or 5000 gallons of petroleum, the first thing you need to do is find a company that offers you quality service at reasonable costs. Numerous petroleum companies in South Carolina provide these products and services – how do you choose the right one?

Seek answers to the following questions to take an informed decision.

Does the company offer different products? Opt for South Carolina petroleum companies that offer a wide range of products suitable for your purpose. For example, fuel, oil, gasoline, propane, etc.

Does the company cater to residential and commercial requirements? Whether it is heating oil for your home or bulk oil for your transportation business, the company needs to be able to provide all.

Does the company cater to varying requirements? You need to find a company that offers a wide range of petroleum-based products in quantities commensurate to your needs. Choose one that can deliver varying quantities of fuels for different purposes.

Does the company offer timely delivery? If the company is unable to deliver on time, it may mean problems at your home or losses for your business. Choose a company that offers on-site delivery too.

Does the company have competent staff? Without adequate knowledge and expertise, delivery of the orders becomes a difficult task. If the company has competent staff, it ensures quicker and proper delivery.

Does the company accept different modes of payment? Clarify how and when to pay for the petroleum-based products you order. Sometimes, you may need to set up an account, to pay at regular intervals or pay cash-on-delivery.

Does the company offer any discount on bulk orders? If you are intent on saving money on your petroleum needs, enquire whether there are any discount rates on bulk orders. Some companies offer a lower price on fuel orders only when you have an account with them.

It is important to have a clear idea about the company before you order their products and services, or enter into a contract with them. Get the answers to these questions to make the right choice.

The basics of ATM business revenue model

>> Sunday, February 27, 2011

ATM business is profitable and you need minimum guts to invest on it. Still many house owners think otherwise. The reason is, how does ATM machine work is still a mystery to many of them.

Yes, there is no magic. It is very much similar to vending business with only one difference that vending machine dispenses cash and deals with the banking regulations.

ATM business is straight forward. This post will disclose the revenue model of this ATM business.

  • First, you need to have a good ATM machine from the best ATM Company
  • A good location is essential. Let it be anywhere like retail store, restaurant, parking lot, condo complex, office building, hospital, medical building, airport etc.
  • You need to refill the ATM with cash. A location manager or an armored car company can do it for you
  • A reputable ATM company is the must. They must provide you all technical support. The company will have contracts with ATM processor, sponsoring bank etc. They can move your money between banks, arrange statements and do online reporting.
  • If load cash yourself, you need a bank account
  • The final step is your income from the whole process. Customers will pay a surcharge fees for using the ATM service. Then the network fees that banks pay to the ATM network and processor. You will get a commission of the network fees.
If all these steps seem interesting to you, the next step is to identify whether your ATM Company is good enough to make things simple for you. Many ATM companies will try to make you realize that the process is really complicated, which is not. They will claim to sell you locations or help you find ATM spots. Don’t just blindly go by them, Listen to your gut feeling and decide of your own.
ATM business functions much similar to credit card processing deals. ATM charges the cardholder a convenience fee which you the ATM owner will fix up. You will receive most or all of these fees and also interchange fees depending on the contract you have signed with the ATM company.  Interchange money is the amount that bank pays to ATM networks for connecting card holder to the bank. 100% surcharge and $.15 of the interchange – these are the portions that come into your share.

UK vs US Credit Cards - What's the Difference?

>> Wednesday, February 16, 2011

If you have the opportunity to decide between UK and US credit cards, you can find that it is a bit of dilemma over which services you should choose to use. However, this article is going to reveal some of the key differences which distinguish UK cards from their American equivalents.

The first thing to note is that in the UK, the Consumer Credit Act of 1974 protects members of the public who use their card for purchases between £100 and £30,000 which are made on their card. Thanks to this law, credit  card providers and retailers are jointly responsible if a product doesn’t turn up or is faulty – meaning that there is a better chance of a consumer getting their money back quickly when compared to other methods of payment such as debit cards and cash.

Of course, if you are purchasing a rewards card from America instead of UK, you will also notice that the retailers from which you can redeem points will be different. A popular reward scheme in Britain is Nectar points, which can be used with many of the leading brands there. You shouldn’t fret however, as other hotel reward schemes, such as credit cards from Marriott, can be redeemed in locations around the world.

The UK has also recently discovered the merits of price comparison websites for credit cards, and it could be argued that the market for these services is demanded more in Britain than America. This is in part due to some of the leading brands such as Comparethemarket.com, Gocompare.com and Moneysupermarket.com that allows UK consumers to get advice easily. The culture of doing research on the Internet has also extended to other markets that include insurance.

Even though many of the well-known credit card providers in the US are seen in Britain – such as Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Capital One – are seen in the UK, it is also worthwhile to note that some of the credit card brands which are seen in Britain cannot be found for American consumers easily. Sometimes, going for a card brand that is common in both countries can be beneficial for people who travel frequently between the two, as it could cut foreign transaction fees extensively, and you might be able to have a balance in both US dollars and pound sterling.

There are some similarities between the credit card markets in the two countries also, however. For example, it is easy to find 12-month deals on balance transfers and 0% interest quite easily – no matter whether you are in the US or the UK. Similarly, if you are looking to be rewarded frequently through the use of cash back cards, which reward everyday purchases with discounts that might be rewarded after a 12-month period as a lump sum. If you are trying to ease the burden of everyday purchases and increase the levels of disposable income for the finer things in life, enjoying up to 5% of cash back over an introductory period of up to three months is the great start to using a new card. Unlike in the UK, stateside cash back credit cards also offer up to $100 after making your first purchase, or if you spend up to $500 in three months.

By having a look around for the different contenders on the market, you will be sure to find the best deal for you.

Financial Planning Strategies That Work

With the financial world the way it is, it is no wonder that most people are thinking of ways to help keep more of the money that they make and make the most of what they make as well.  Financial planning strategies can give you back some confidence in your finances and allow you to feel better about the financial world in general.  What are some financial planning strategies that will work for you?

Look at your expenses.  This is the first place that you want to start in helping to restore your financial security.  While you may think that you are staying on budget with your spending, there is always room for improvement in your spending habits.  By carefully going through your spending, you can look for little ways to decrease spending and to help you to have more money for the future.  Evaluate your needs versus your wants to help keep your spending at a level that is comfortable and helpful for you now and in the future.

Start an emergency fund.  This is one thing that most people put off, which can be an issue.  An emergency fund of three to six months of living expenses can go a long way to helping you to feel more secure, even during the most taxing financial situations.  This is not something that can be done overnight, but it is something that you can do a little at a time to help you to feel better about your financial life.  A little saved today can be a lot tomorrow when you need it.

Don't forget the future. Most people live in the here and now, but this can be damaging to your future.  Credit cards allow you to buy what you want now, but that does not mean that they will help you in the future, unless you use them wisely.  If you do not pay them on time or use them too much without paying off the balance each month, they will hurt your credit history.  Your credit history is your vehicle to getting lower interest rates and getting approved for home loans and other loans in the future.

Invest wisely.  Now that you have your budget under control and have your emergency fund complete, you are ready to begin investing.  While the stock market may seem like a great way to make money, it can also be a way to lose money as well.  By making your investing decisions wisely, you can better help your money to grow.  While there is always some risk to investing, you want to reduce the risk as much as possible to protect yourself and your money.

Strike a balance.  Finding that balance between spending and saving is necessary for you to be financially secure.  In this day and age, it is prudent for you to find this balance.  By following these easy to follow financial strategies, you can find the financial balance in your life to take care of yourself and your family.

Everyone should do some financial planning.  Living paycheck to paycheck can be done, but you can be more financially secure if you learn to live your life differently.  By striking a balance between saving and spending, you can regain your financial confidence and make your life more comfortable.
Janis Davis at CreditDonkey.com contributed this article.  Janis believes everyone should strike a balance between saving and spending with their own personal financial plan.

The Smart Approach to Debt Relief

>> Monday, February 14, 2011

Many consumers often consider declaring bankruptcy as a means to settle their debt without being aware of other methods that may be less detrimental to their credit score. Franklin Debt Relief, a debt relief company based out of Illinois, is available to assist consumers six days a week and also offers consultations free-of-charge. They educate consumers on their options for debt relief and review each case on a case-by-case basis to ensure they arrive at the best possible solution. Some of the services Franklin Debt Relief provide include: debt settlement, debt reduction, debt relief, bankruptcy, bankruptcy alternative, and debt negotiation. Their debt reduction program in particular seems to be the most popular among consumers for its time and cost-effectiveness.

This program addresses the most common types of debt, such as: credit card debt, medical bills, and collections accounts, among many others. Credit card debt relief can be especially troublesome to come by, due to high interest and finance charges. Consumers can easily become buried in credit card debt because even though they make minimum payments on their credit cards, they may end up paying twice the balance due on the credit card simply because of the finance and interest charges incurred if they do not pay more than the minimum balance every month.

Franklin Debt Relief provides specific solutions for credit card debt relief and educates consumers on all their available options in order for the consumer to make the best possible choice for their particular situation. Credit counseling, debt relief with chapter 7 bankruptcy, debt relief with chapter 13 bankruptcy, and credit card balance transfers are just some of the options that Franklin Debt Relief outlines on its website for consumers to choose from as the best option suitable to their specific situation. With a toll-free number, no upfront fees, and a debt solution plan to resolve debt in as little as 18 months, calling Franklin Debt Relief is the first step all consumers should take to resolve their debt immediately!

This is a guest post by Monique Rowe, who writes for Franklin Debt Relief.

Student Credit Cards - A Liberating Yet Sobering Experience

>> Thursday, February 10, 2011

This is a guest post from Janet Hutchins of Credit Cards Canada.  You can follow her on Twitter at @CreditCardsCA.
_________________________________________________________________________________

It's a once-in-a-lifetime experience: spreading your wings and leaving the nest.  Freedom, sweet freedom.  And responsibilities, bummer responsibilities. As a student, you need to manage of most of your own needs, from your laundry to cooking to cleaning to balancing the books. And speaking of finances, you need to start thinking about your credit history ("My what?!?!"), and your financial reputation. One way you can get on the a smart financial path is to get a good student credit card.

Evaluating a Student Credit Card

Few students have established credit, and this makes it difficult to obtain a standard credit card (yes, that's why there are cards called "student credit cards"). This can make it quite difficult to get a card with a good interest rate. (A student in the U.S. who is under 21, who can’t prove that he or she has an income, will need a co-signer.) But there are cards available, so don't fret.  There are even some credit cards that give students access to rewards programs and low annual fees.

When searching for a student credit card, expect to pay a slightly higher interest rate (no credit history, remember?). Luckily, many come without annual fees, and you will find that many also come with rewards programs that can be reasonably generous. Big caveat: when looking at rewards programs, make sure that you consider flexible rewards cards with a variety of options that you are likely to use. Points can usually be redeemed for entertainment and even cash, so make sure the rewards are actually useful to you..

Consider the introductory interest rate, and how long it will last. You should also be careful of picking a college student credit card based on the special gift. While the gift is a nice bonus, make sure that you will benefit from the card programs before you apply for a credit card.

Wise Use of Your Student Credit Card

When your credit card arrives, you need to be careful how you use it. Yes, it is very easy to go astray and rack up Michael-Jackson-sized debts, even if a private zoo is not what you put on the plastic.

Follow the best practices to avoid the debt trap that many students wind up in. Save up money for large purchases, and only charge what you already have money for. When you follow this rule, you will be able to pay off your credit card balance each month, avoiding interest charges that represent a drain on your income.

Credit cards open doors to....to...well, just about anything.  But when it comes to balancing the books, they only buy you time.  And if you buy too much time, that time becomes expensive.  Instead of building a reputation for bad credit that will haunt you for years to come, make sure your new credit card builds your financial credibility.

Should You Buy Rental Car Insurance?

>> Tuesday, February 8, 2011

When you walk up to the counter of a rental car office, you have a decision to make: should you buy rental car insurance or rely on your own existing car insurance?

On one hand, most financial experts and consumer advocates recommend that you save money and not buy it, but, on the other hand, many car renters have been glad they paid a few extra dollars for that insurance because their own car insurance turned out to be inadequate.

Check Your Existing Coverage

The best thing to do to resolve the question is to call your own car insurance company to find out what is covered in your policy. Explain to the insurance agent that you are planning on renting a car and would like to know if you’re covered for car rental damage and for personal property loss.

You should call your insurance agent if you have auto, home or renters insurance. If you have collision and comprehensive insurance coverage, this will cover any damage to the rental car. Of course, the extent of this coverage will depend on the limits of your insurance policy.

Another option you may have is to check with your credit card company if you are using your credit card to rent the car. Some credit cards include a loss damage waiver as part of cardholder privileges.
You should not simply assume that you have sufficient coverage. It’s always worth taking that extra bit of time to call either your auto insurance agent or the credit card representative to find out exactly what type of coverage you have and how it applies to your planned car rental.

When You Should Buy Rental Car Insurance

There are many circumstances when it is advisable to buy car rental insurance.

Here are some instances:
  1. In your state, the auto insurance policy does not cover the rental car company’s policy on “loss of use.” This is a policy that states that the rental fees on the car are not waived while the car is in the repair shop.
  2. You plan to drive the car outside the country and your own car insurance only covers you within the country.
  3. You do not have homeowners or rental insurance to cover your personal effect and you are traveling with expensive electronic and computer equipment. Considering the low cost of rental car insurance and the high cost of your personal belongings, it is worth getting the rental car insurance.
In addition, here is something else to consider. Even if you do have adequate insurance coverage of your own, a claim for an accident with your rental car may raise your insurance premiums because you will be considered a high risk driver. It might be cheaper to pay extra for rental car insurance, rather than pay higher premium prices for years. What’s more, the chances of your having an accident are higher in a new car driving on unfamiliar roads.
