7 Simple Ways To Live Mortgage Free As Soon As Possible

>> Monday, December 19, 2011

Getting rich is a wonderful dream to have, but if you like to be a little more realistic you might simply dream of being financially secure and living a stress free life. So what are the small things that anyone can do to propel themselves to financial success?

1: Track your finances
The first step to sorting out your finances is knowing what you are spending on what on. Financial success doesn’t have to be all about depriving yourself, but knowing what you are spending is the best way to cut out waste and making sure that you can save without having to miss out on all of the fun things you enjoy doing.

2: Save early
In early life you generally don’t have a lot of money, which is a shame because that’s when you could really use it, you know, for buying houses and stuff. There’s not a lot you can do about that, but if you start saving hard right now, whatever your age you will save yourself a lot of money in the future.

3: Over pay your mortgage
The more equity you can build against your mortgage the better the rate you will get. When you first buy a house you might only have 10%, but if you can save up a lump sum over the next few years you can vastly reduce your mortgage payments over the next 20.

4: Downsize
Right now property prices aren’t on the rise, which means that it makes no sense living somewhere bigger than you need. A smaller property means lower interest payments and money saved.

5: Work hard
It’s pretty obvious really, but the harder you work now the easier life will be in the future. So why not pick up over time if you can, or consider a second job, even if you just keep it up for a few months…?

6: Get out of debt
If you are in debt (other than your mortgage) your first priority should be to get out of it – debt costs you money each month which could be going into savings or investments. What could you do if you suddenly didn’t have to make debt payments each month?

7: Start a business
Starting a business isn’t an option for everyone, but it is certainly a great option if you aspire to achieve financial prosperity – consider options that you can do from home and don’t take risks you can’t afford.
