War over debt ceiling continues– Multiple debt problems hover around the US

>> Tuesday, April 12, 2011

Only days after the Democrats and the Republicans struck the last minute deal to inject cash flow within the US government and avoid the risk of a federal shutdown, a new budget battle in on its way to jolt the lives of the already suffering Americans. With the new budget, financial experts are overtly concerned about the lending and borrowing procedure within the US.
They fear that more and more people will be taking resort to loans to meet their surging debt problems. The US financial experts are of the opinion that if the debt ceiling is not raised in the US, this will have a disastrous effect on the global investment market.

If you’re someone who is overburdened with an overwhelmingly large amount of debt, you need not fret as there is a wide array of options that can help you eliminate your debt burden. Rising the debt ceiling in the US does not mean that you can spend more than what you could. It just means that the US government has to reduce the spending floor too in order to bring back a balance within the US economy. Here are some tips suggested by most debt experts that can help a debtor get back a grip on his personal finance.

·         Follow a workable budget: The first step that you must take is to create a workable budget and follow it throughout the month. Only following a budget is not enough as you have to evaluate it after every month to keep space for improvements. A frugal budget will enable you to keep a close track on your monthly income and expenses and monitor your savings.

·         Pay off your credit cards on time: Make it a habit to pay off your unpaid credit card bills on time to avoid falling into the debt trap and boosting your debt problems. Remember the due dates on your multiple debt accounts so that you do not miss out payments and stay current on all the accounts. Forbid the habit of making the minimum monthly payments only. This will leave you in debt for a longer time and you will unnecessarily keep on racking piles of interest rates.

·         Stop resorting to credit unless you’re in dire need: Stop resorting to credit unless when you’re in dire need of it. Carry cash with you whenever you go shopping so that you can use it and stop purchasing things as soon as you exhaust it. Using too much credit will push you towards the debt hole and you may find it impossible to repay the accumulated debt amount.

·         Save money and lead a frugal life: Save at least 10% of what you make each month and stack it up in a savings account with a reputed bank. This will help you invest money and also create an emergency fund at the same time. You can use this money whenever you need immediate cash and pay off your monthly debt obligations.

If you want to survive the effects of the global economic recession, the US budget and the rising debt level, you must take care of your personal finances and manage them effectively. Eradicate all your debt problems so that you can lead a happy financial life in the near future.
