Best Ways to Solve Financial Shortfalls

>> Monday, February 28, 2011

When the day inevitably arrives that we are no longer reliant upon our parents to run our finances, there is a certain amount of pride that comes with successfully managing our money without help. However, even the smartest individuals can experience financial shortfalls that sneak up on them and catch them in a tough situation. No matter what the challenge, facing and overcoming any sudden financial hurdle is critical to any individual's current and future financial health.

There are many options individuals have when it comes to getting money in their pocket fast. Each of these options come with different positives and negatives, and these are factors that should be carefully considered before choosing the best path to overcome a financial shortfall.

The following are examples of steps that can be taken to overcome financial shortfalls and deal with unexpected challenges:

- Personal/Small Loan from bank
- Personal Loan from a friend or family member

Individuals with sparkling financial credit may find a personal or small loan from a bank to be the best means of solving their financial shortfall. These loans can help individuals by providing them with a loan ranging from $1,000 to upwards of $20,000. In addition, a loan from a bank will come with a fixed repayment schedule and lower interest rates than other alternatives. The biggest drawback however is that an individual will need good credit to obtain a loan with a low interest rate and small monthly payments.

Those who need less cash and have poor credit would be best served considering a cash advance. Cash advances can put money into an individual's account within one business day, or even within moments, and do not require a credit check or any other financial paperwork. Cash advances are strictly regulated in many states in the U.S. and are often not available in amounts exceeding $1,000. Even worse, unpaid cash advances come with astronomical interest rates that can quickly land an individual deeper in debt than they were when they sought out the cash advance.

The last option for most individuals is a difficult one to consider. Those who don't want to, or can't, deal with a bank or other financial institution in search of a loan could consider asking a friend or family member for a loan to cover their financial shortfall. This has the advantage have flexible repayment schedules, as worked out between the two parties, and no interest rates involved. However, the possible damage to the relationship makes this option difficult for most to consider. Additionally, the lack of legally binding paperwork between the sides can make it easy for some to run out on debts.

Confronting and dealing with a financial shortfall can be difficult, but if managed successfully can leave an individual no worse for the wear. Even better, they will have confidence that if future shortfalls should arise they will be able to meet and conquer these problems as well.
