Crucial Tips for Backpackers Travel Insurance

>> Sunday, January 23, 2011

A backpacking holiday is a wonderful way to get lots of exercise, see some beautiful scenery and get an up-close look at nature. There are backpacking excursions for groups that are guided and organized, or you may choose to chart your own course. Wherever you choose to roam there are some important considerations to keep in mind. The first is that there is always the chance of injury or illness whenever you are traveling, so you need to plan accordingly and have comprehensive insurance.
In order for you to have peace of mind as well as prevent significant out-of-pocket expenses, it is essential to take out travel insurance. While you may not have to worry about flight delays or lost luggage, you definitely don't want to be in another country or even in your own country without enough insurance to cover bills for medical treatment, replacement of equipment or any other type of unforeseen disaster.

1.    What Does The Policy Really Say?

As with all types of insurance policies there are some that are more inclusive than others. Many people that purchase travelers insurance just read the highlights on the policy, they don't stop to read the fine print. The key points of the policy to review include the coverage, claims process, limitations and exceptions, and all other sections of the insurance. If you don't understand a specific term or the policy language do some online research, talk to an agent or ask a person you trust. Once you sign the policy and pay the premium you will not get a refund even if you decide to cancel the policy at a later date.

Keep in mind that it is your responsibility as the insured party to understand the terms of the insurance policy. Reputable insurance companies have highly trained representatives that can answer your questions and provide specific information on the policy you are considering.
Some policies may limit claims that are based on personal liability issues. This means that if you caused the accident, injury or loss of property because of your actions you may not be able to claim on the policy or you may only be entitled to a portion of the benefits. Personal liability may include the area in which you chose to hike as well as leaving luggage unattended or other types of mistakes that can and do occur. Many policies provide coverage for personal liability, which is a wonderful option for anyone.

2.    What About Cancelations?

Since backpacking is a completely outdoor trip, having a comprehensive type of travel insurance is essential. You do need to make sure that the policy you are considering doesn't penalize you and can compensate you for a trip that doesn't happen because of a cancelation. This can be due to emergencies, health related issues or even with cancelled flights or travel to get you to the backpacking location. If the policy doesn't cover cancellations you are really left on your own to cover any expenses of the trip if you can't make it for some reason.

3.    What Is Covered?

Typically medical is the first coverage that most people consider. In some cases medical insurance with travelers can include pre-existing conditions, but it is essential to carefully check into this if it applies to you. In addition to medical emergencies you also need to consider replacement of property if there is theft or lost luggage along the way. Since backpackers tend to travel by a variety of modes of transportation this type of insurance, especially in some countries, is really important.

What are your favorite national and international backpacking locations? Where would you most like to hike on your next vacation?

New Ways for the New Years: 5 Ways to Save Money in 2011

>> Thursday, January 6, 2011

With the shaky economy, every family could benefit from saving a few bucks here and there. The following are five easy tips to add into your daily life that will help you to save money. These tips are not hard to do and can end up saving you a whole lot of money in the long run.

1. Coupons. Coupons. Coupons. Utilize bargains at local stores. The newspaper always has a section with coupons that you could take advantage of. Before going to a store, check online if they have any coupons that you can print out and take with you. All deals are good deals. You’ll quickly know where to look and the best stores to go to get a bargain.

2. Every Penny Counts. Keep track of the change that accumulates in your purse. Have a container or jar to put all of your change. After a few months, it is very likely that you’ll have more than one hundred dollars in that jar. Go to a local bank and trade those coins in for cash.

3. Clearance is always the answer. As soon as you head into a store, head to the clearance section. With a little time, you’ll be able to find something that you need and save money rather than buying the item for full price.

4. Save on gas money. Carpool with people in your neighborhood or families that live close by. Gas prices are still on the rise. Finding alternative ways to cut down on the amount you spend on gas will greatly reduce the amount of money you spend on gas every year. Ride bikes to stores that are close by. Make it a weekend family activity. You’ll get your shopping done and exercise all in one trip. Public transportation is also a good and cheap alternative. Take a bus of a train to work.

5. Avoid the mall. Malls only have seasonal sales and each individual store has different sales at different times, which can be a pain to keep up with. Take the easy route. Start shopping at stores like Wal-Mart, Target, and K-Mart. These types of stores always have the lowest priced items to save you money. You can also get your home needs and food all in the same place, saving gas money from the two separate trips you would’ve made.

Top 5 Secrets About Travel Insurance

>> Tuesday, January 4, 2011

Most travelers realize that they can purchase plans to cover the cost of their plane tickets if they have to cancel their trip or to get medical care while on vacation, but travel insurance can help you in ways that you may not realize. Every plan/company is different, but if you're purchasing a policy for your next vacation, you might be able to take advantages of some of these secrets:

5. Rebooking your Flight

If bad weather grounds plans wherever you are, you're probably not the only grumpy traveler looking for the quickest route to your destination or home. Give your insurance agent a call. They can't make it stop snowing, but they can often bump you up to get on the next available flight out. They'll use their pull to minimize your wait time because otherwise, they may have to pay for a hotel room for you or completely reimburse your trip. When there's a travel professional on your side, it's amazingly easy to get the best service available.

4. Auto Insurance

Some travel insurance policies cover auto insurance if you rent a car while on vacation. That saves you the cost of purchasing it from the rental care agency, where rates are typically extremely high. If you mention that you're covered with a travel insurance policy, the rental car company may even be able to give you a lower rental rate.

3. Emergency Translators

Should you need emergency care while on vacation, a travel insurance policy will not only cover you, but will provide you the help you need to find a doctor or hospital. In countries where you don't speak the native language, this is vital! You don't want to be trying to get directions in Italian if you broke your foot jet-skiing.

2. Lost Baggage

Most people assume that airlines cover the cost of lost baggage, but this isn't necessarily the case. Some airlines provide you with kits that include toiletries and t-shirts, but many don't even help you with that. If your bag is lost forever, you can put in a claim to be reimbursed, but that could take weeks or even months to process. Travel insurance covers you much more quickly, allowing you to get on with your vacation.

1. Stolen Items

Even the savviest tourists can be targets when traveling. You can purchase travel insurance to cover the loss of items stolen while you're on vacation, which can be a life-saver if you're hit hard by theft. Imagine how stressful it would be if all of your cash was stolen on day one of a week-long vacation! Travel insurances ensures you'll have the money you need on your trip to pay for necessities and get home without hitchhiking.

Remember, every policy is different. Read the fine print so you know exactly how you're covered and what you should do if you have problems while traveling.

Purchase Order Automation

If you run a business, then you have probably already considered some of the benefits of accounts payable automation – instead of wandering around the building looking for various filing cabinets that may or may not contain the paper work that you are seeking, you could have all your purchase order documentation stored in cyberspace, where you can conveniently access it with the mere click of a button. But there are numerous other reasons for automating as well, which I will discuss below:
  •  INCREASE EFFICIENCY: When you send your purchase orders through the mail, you may be subjected to all sorts of problems and delays. Your purchase order may not even make it to the person it is being sent to. You do not have to worry about this with an electronic purchase order system. Any document you send will be delivered instantaneously, and you will have an electronic backup.
  •  CUT COSTS THROUGH AUTOMATION: By automating your accounts receivable process you can save lots of money. For one, you will not need nearly as many workers in that department since the automation will streamline the whole process. Beyond that, though, there are other ways in which automation will save you money. If you accidentally send the wrong invoice, or some other problem of that nature, you can quickly correct the mistake with an automated system. You will never have to worry about late fees again, since your new invoice management software will send invoices immediately, rather than having to wait for a document to make its way through the postal system. It has been estimated that invoice automation can reduce the cost of each invoice processed by up to 60%. That is a lot of money over the course of your business’s lifetime.
  •  INCREASE PRODUCTIVITY: Invoice automation will dramatically increase your accounts payable staff’s productivity by eliminating repetitive tasks. No longer will they have to sort through thousands of documents just to find the one they are searching for. Additionally, automation will increase the company’s overall productivity. Speeding up the accounts payable process will eliminate delays that affect the entire staff, such as waiting for the supplier to approve something. There will be fewer delays overall, meaning tasks will be completed much more rapidly.
  •  INCREASE ACCURACY: Purchase order automation is highly recommended even if just to ensure the accuracy of your accounting. Imagine you realize there is a problem with one of your suppliers or invoices. Without automation, you could have to sort through hundreds or thousands of documents just to try and verify an invoice.

Mahindras gear up to raise prices

>> Thursday, December 30, 2010

Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) will raise prices across all categories of vehicles next month because of rising input costs. The amount of hike is yet to be decided, senior officials said.

According to Arun Malhotra, senior vice-president (sales & customer care), M&M automotive sector, there will be a price hike in January because of rising cost of inputs such as steel and rubber. The company last raised prices in the first week of October this year by 1-2 per cent based on the model. Malhotra said the January hike would be across both passenger and commercial vehicles.

He said the company would introduce a new pick-up truck, above 1.2-tonnage carriage capacity, within the first six months of next year. Analysts said that while rubber prices had doubled in the recent past, metal prices had jumped 3-4 percentage points. M&M is not the only auto company which has talked about raising vehicle prices. Tata Motors recently indicated that it would raise its vehicle prices by 1-1.5 per cent in January because of growing raw material costs.

The company has, however, decided not to increase the prices of the Nano and the Aria. Similarly, Maruti Suzuki has said it would hike prices of its vehicles soon, while Hyundai Motor India has announced a hike by Rs 4,00025,000 on various models from January 1. The other auto makers which will jack up rates include Volkswagen, General Motors, Ford India and Toyota Kirloskar.

Volkswagen had said it would increase the prices of its small car Polo by over 2.9 per cent with effect from January. Two-wheeler majors such as Bajaj Auto have announced similar increases. Recently, the Pune-based company said it would raise bike prices by up to Rs 1,000 at the ex-showroom. This hike will also come into effect from January. However, senior officials of the company say the price rise will not affect sales as its models offer superior value.

The Drawbacks of Filing Bankruptcy

>> Tuesday, December 28, 2010

Due to poor economic conditions, many people have found themselves largely in debt. Since getting out of debt can be very difficult to do, many people consider filing for bankruptcy to get out of debt. While filing for bankruptcy could help some people, there are many drawbacks that come with filing for bankruptcy and may make it such that finding a debt relief alternative may make more sense.

The first drawback of filing bankruptcy is that filing for bankruptcy will ruin your credit. When you file for bankruptcy, you will have a large negative mark left on your credit report for up to 10 years. During this time period, your credit score will be hurt so badly that you will most likely not be able to receive a loan or any other form of credit unless you are willing to accept an extremely high interest rate. After the initial 10 year period, you will need to begin to rebuild you’re a good credit score, which could easily take another 5 to 10 years. Therefore, it could be up to 20 years before you will qualify for many low interest loans.

The second drawback of filing for bankruptcy is that it will not relieve you of all of your debt. Bankruptcy will typically relieve a person of their unsecured debt, such as credit cards and personal loans. Other forms of debt, such as a mortgage or student loan, will not be removed from a person’s credit report and you will have to continue to make payments on those loans. For many people, mortgage debt and student loan debt are the two largest components of their overall debt, so filing for bankruptcy will barely even help them.

The third drawback of filing for bankruptcy is that it will be quite expensive to do so. When filing for bankruptcy, your creditors will be given the opportunity to liquidate many of your assets. This means that you will lose any liquid savings you have, lose any stock or mutual fund investments, or may even have some other assets sold at auction. Furthermore, filing for bankruptcy is a very time consuming and confusing process. Because of this, it is almost a necessity to hire an attorney to handle the work for you. Bankruptcy attorneys often cost a few thousand dollars, and will normally require upfront payment before they will begin working on your case.

Expenses Involved in Setting up an ATM

>> Tuesday, December 21, 2010

How much money do you need to invest in a business? Well, this depends on the business you are planning to start. If your plan is to set up an ATM (automated teller machine) and earn from the transactional charges, one of the first things to decide is whether to buy a machine or lease one.

If you have enough cash at your disposal, it is better to invest in a machine that you would own. How do you find one? It is easy if you know where to look – just go online and search for low cost ATM machines for sale. This way you could easily find companies that sell such machines at reasonable rates.

When you need to buy a new machine, the two important factors to consider are the quality of the product and the brand. Check out the new machines and their features. Next, compare prices. Choose a quality product that comes for a reasonable price, not something sub-standard that comes cheap.

If you are buying a used ATM, make sure that you purchase the product from a reputed company only. It is essential to keep in mind that if the deal sounds too good to be true, it probably is; check the quality of the machine and ask for warranty before you make the investment to avoid later hassles.

You can also opt for a lease in case you do not have the money to buy a machine. Discuss the details of the lease with the company and decide whether to get it on a weekly or monthly basis. Get all the terms and conditions in writing, read the lease document carefully and then only sign it.

Apart from the cost of the ATM, there are two other costs to consider. If you are setting the machine up at your own location, you can avoid one expense. However, this is more often impossible. In such a circumstance, you need to find a high traffic location to set it up. Therefore, you have to pay the rent for the location. Another expense is the loading of the machine with the cash.

Key Factors to Consider Before Choosing a Gasoline Company

>> Monday, December 20, 2010

When it comes to bulk fuel needs, the first thing to do is find a suitable company offering the right services. Whether your business involves construction or transportation, huge quantities of fuels like gasoline may be imperative for the smooth functioning of the machines. In such a case, you need to find a suitable company providing such services.

Here are the points to consider when you are assessing the South Carolina commercial gasoline companies.

Quality – the quality of the gasoline is important. The proper running of the machines is important for all businesses, whether it is big or small. Therefore, you need a company that offers quality products for your business.

Range – the company must cater to all sorts of needs. This implies that whether you have a smaller requirement or a bulk order, a good gasoline company would be able to provide you the same without any hassle.

Delivery – proper delivery equipment is also another important factor. Fuel tank setups, hoses and hose reels, filters and nozzles, and such others are necessary for fast and efficient delivery.

Time – this is of utmost importance in a business. Commercial setups have a strict schedule that must be maintained. It is, therefore, essential to find a company that offers on-time delivery of the bulk orders.

Payment – this includes both the charges and the mode of payment. Delivery charges must be commensurate with the quality of the service. Sometimes, you can get a discount over bulk orders of gasoline.

Emergency Service – sometimes there can be an emergency need for fuel. Talk to the gasoline company beforehand and ask whether they can cater to such situations. If they can, it is a good option.

Staff – only highly trained professionals are capable of handling bulk order delivery of combustible fuels. Check whether the company has qualified and certified staff that has adequate experience in this field.

These key factors would help you make the right selection when you go out to choose a bulk fuel company. Ask for referrals, and find out as much as you can before you associate with the company to supply bulk gasoline.
