Bond’s car sells for £2.9 million

>> Friday, October 29, 2010

An American businessman bought James Bond’s 1964 Aston Martin DB5 for £2.9 million at a London auction yesterday. The car driven by Sean Connery in his portrayal of the suave but lethal British secret agent in Goldfinger and Thunderball sold for less than its 3.5-million pre-sale estimate to businessman Harry Yeaggy, auctioneers RM Auctions said.

“This is a car that I’ve always wanted, after all it is the most famous car in the world,” Yeaggy said in the statement. “My plan is to display it in my private car museum in Ohio just as it is.” Yeaggy is only the second ex-factory owner of the distinctive silver-coloured car. Seller Jerry Lee purchased the car direct from the Aston Martin Lagonda factory for $12000 in 1969.

>> Monday, October 25, 2010

Income protection forms an integral part of a life insurance policy. This ensures the fact that you are not caught in the midst of a financial crunch in the event of an accident or an illness. This also helps to get coverage against mortgage payments, any outstanding bills or medical bills. The insurance may provide coverage following an injury or an illness or may be applicable after a while, after the employer has settled all the outstanding bills. The income protection policy normally offers a certain percentage of the previous income amount and is exempted from taxes.

There are various types of income protection policies that are available. The plans differ based on the span for which it is valid, the time from which they are initiated and the amount of coverage provided. This way you can personalise the income protection insurance to suit your personal requirements and opt for a policy that turns out to be the most affordable option.  The things that should be considered before opting for a policy include:

Policy Terms: The policy holder can decide the time from which they want the policy to be in operation. Most often the policy term begins after a span of four to eight or sixteen weeks after the individual suffers an illness or injury.

Duration of the Policy: If you opt for a long term income protection policy then you can avail benefits right from the moment when you are struck by a disability till the time you retire from your job.

Coverage: The coverage amount differs from one policy to another. For some people, the amount that they need is sufficient to provide coverage for the mortgage payments. There are others who may wish to incorporate additional funds for other expenses such as medical bills.

Keeping these factors in mind, you can choose a policy that is affordable and at the same time matches your requirements.

Planning your Pension Scheme

>> Monday, October 18, 2010

People who do not have a pension plan of their own often reason against it as being too expensive to set up. They are also cautious of the fact that brokers may charge a lump sum as commission. A pension scheme helps you save for the future when you retire from your job. It is an investment for the safety and security of your future.

As part of a personal pension scheme, the individual contributes regularly to the fund, either on an ad-hoc basis or on a monthly basis. The money is collected and invested in the funds. It is an important consideration for most individuals. You might think about the relevance of such long term planning. But it is necessary to understand the fact that you will not be able to work throughout your life and age and infirmity will get the better of you.

Pension schemes may appear to be complicated and people often tend to put it on the last position in their savings scheme as there are more urgent financial needs to be met. While people in their twenties think that saving for a pension scheme is meant for those who are over 30 years of age, there are others who cannot afford to pay for a pension scheme.

While these concerns are valid in their own right, saving early for the future always reaps in rich benefits. It is important to choose the right pension plan where you can invest a certain portion of your salary.

You may find it difficult to decide on the way you can save money for your pension. You can determine a personal program plan with the assistance of pension brokers in Dublin.  This way you can properly allocate funds as your savings and enjoy its benefits during your retirement years.

Conquering Your Debts-The Sensible Effective Five Step Plan

>> Wednesday, September 22, 2010

Conquering debts can seem like some kind of unachievable dream to many people. Credit has enabled a lot of people to live the life of their dreams. From buying a car to purchasing their first home, credit and the debt that goes with it have made it possible to buy things that we otherwise could not afford to pay for upfront.

The problem comes when the debt starts to get out of control. For a lot of people rising debt is a cause for worry, stress, and can even create tension in a family. Finding ways to manage debts and start dealing with the bills may seem like an unwinnable task, but there are ways to get your debt under control.

1. The first step is to create an essential only spending strategy. While you take a closer look at your finances it is a good idea to place a hold on spending for anything but the essentials. By saving a little here and there you can see the savings start to add up pretty quickly.

2. Cut back on over-easy living habits. Instead of eating out for lunch, packing one from home can easily save a sizable amount of money over the course of just a month. Getting rid of monthly expenses that are not being utilized is also a good idea. If you have a subscription service that you are not using, cancel it.

3. Stop being deluded. Sounds harsh, but it happens to many of us. The next step is to take a good long look at your debt and to be honest with yourself. A lot of individuals have deluded themselves into thinking they can afford a lifestyle that they simply can't. If you are living beyond your means it is only a matter of time before it catches up with you. Realizing what the truth behind your debt is and facing the realities honestly will help making and sticking to a plan a lot easier. It will not be possible to manage your debt if you are not realistic about it.

4. Focus on the fact that it will be possible to achieve your objectives to get on top of your debt. We have seen single parents with three kids or more get a handle on debt all by themselves, so if they can do it so can you. Once you make a plan, stick with it. Set goals and keep them in mind if things get a little rough.

5. Go through your credit cards and pay down the higher interest card first. A lot of credit card companies will work with you if you call them and tell them your situation. The important thing is to remember to be patient. Debt can take a long time to accrue and it can take even longer to get rid of. It does not disappear instantly but if you stick to a plan, it will disappear eventually.
